WazirX Sees 300% Jump in Futures Trading as Returning Crypto Investors Boost Market Confidence

India’s crypto investment landscape is expanding beyond major cities as millennials from smaller towns continue to drive cryptocurrency adoption. WazirX’s latest 2026 report reveals that more than 82% of its verified users now belong to non-metro India, highlighting a major shift in the country’s digital asset market. The findings also suggest investor confidence has improved steadily since the platform resumed operations earlier this year.

The report shows crypto participation no longer revolves around Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, or Hyderabad. Growing internet access, stronger digital payment infrastructure, and rising awareness about virtual digital assets have encouraged investors across Tier II and Tier III cities to enter the market. This trend reflects broader financial inclusion rather than short-term speculation.

    Non-Metro India Leads Crypto Growth

Millennials continue leading this transformation across India’s crypto ecosystem. WazirX reported an average user age of 34 years, with 50.8% of users aged 25-34.

Nearly 80% of the platform’s users belong to the 25 to 44 age group, making working professionals the largest contributor to crypto investment activity despite regulatory and tax challenges.

Investor confidence also strengthened after the exchange restarted operations. Around 95% of post-restart traders returned to the platform, while one in seven added fresh capital instead of managing existing holdings. Deposits remained two to six times higher than withdrawals throughout the first half of 2026, showing stronger long-term conviction among participants.

    Investor Confidence Continues to Rise

Trading preferences also evolved during the period. Stablecoins generated 38.5% of total trading volume, while Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other Layer 1 assets accounted for 28.4%.

Meme coins attracted the highest number of unique traders, although interest gradually expanded into AI, DeFi, gaming tokens, Layer 2 networks, and real-world asset tokenization as market sentiment improved.

    Trading Trends Shift Across Markets

WazirX also reported rapid growth across new products. Futures trading value climbed 300% between March and June, while subscription users recorded higher trading frequency and stronger repeat engagement.

Founder Nischal Shetty has assured that the company is still focused on transparency, security, and building an accessible crypto ecosystem as participation continues spreading across India.
