US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds attracted more than USD 1 billion this week, according to SoSoValue, but the wider inflow trend remains weaker than during earlier major rallies. Since July 1, the funds have averaged about USD 86 million in daily net inflows, far below the pace that accompanied three steep Bitcoin advances.
That gap has drawn attention as Bitcoin trades near USD 83,500 and technology shares face fresh pressure after Tesla’s quarterly earnings.
Bitcoin ETF Inflows Rise as Institutional Demand Returns
The weekly inflows signal renewed interest, though analysts say a lasting increase in institutional buying remains unconfirmed.
Vikram Subburaj, chief executive of India-based Giottus, described the improvement in institutional demand as tentative. He said flows remain volatile and a stronger recovery needs steady, sustained purchases from investors.
Since July 1, Bitcoin has risen about 39%, climbing from nearly USD 60,000 to USD 83,500. Over that period, the funds recorded seven sessions with net inflows of at least USD 500 million.
That represents roughly one in every 11 trading days. By comparison, approximately one in five sessions crossed that threshold during three earlier steep rallies. The current period has produced no daily inflow of USD 1 billion or more.
Three Bitcoin Rallies Set a Higher Inflow Benchmark
The first major advance stretched from January 23 to March 14, 2024. Bitcoin surged 79%, from around USD 39,900 to USD 71,400, while funds attracted an average of USD 294 million each day.
During that run, daily net purchases reached at least USD 500 million on ten occasions. One session also topped USD 1 billion, indicating that several concentrated buying days accompanied the price surge.

A second rally began August 5 and lasted until December 17, 2024. Bitcoin gained 96%, moving from roughly USD 54,100 to USD 106,100. ETF inflows averaged USD 202 million a day.
That stretch included 16 days with inflows of USD 500 million or more, including three sessions that reached at least USD 1 billion. Heavy buying therefore appeared repeatedly throughout the advance.
The third rally ran from April 6 to July 14, 2025. Bitcoin climbed 53%, from around USD 78,400 to USD 119,900, alongside average daily ETF inflows of USD 248 million.
Funds exceeded USD 500 million in daily inflows on 13 occasions during that period. Two trading sessions reached at least USD 1 billion, continuing the pattern of sizable purchases during steep advances.
Across all three rallies, the funds collected USD 46.7 billion over 199 trading days. Average daily inflows reached about USD 235 million, including 39 sessions above USD 500 million and six above USD 1 billion.
Tesla Earnings and Asian Stocks Add Market Pressure
Historical ETF activity offers a comparison, not a fixed requirement for Bitcoin gains. Investors can also buy tokens directly in spot markets or gain exposure through futures contracts.
Meanwhile, stronger-than-expected U.S. earnings had supported an earlier rebound in cryptocurrencies and stocks. Tesla’s quarterly figures then brought renewed scrutiny to technology spending, particularly investment linked to artificial intelligence.
Tesla reported third-quarter revenue of USD 28.05 billion, below an estimate of USD 28.13 billion. Capital expenditure totaled USD 4.73 billion, compared with a projected USD 7.96 billion.
Ryan Lee, a senior executive at Direxion, linked the lower spending figure to questions about Tesla’s commitment to the AI investment race. Elon Musk said spending would rise next year and reach tens of billions of dollars in 2028.
In Asia, South Korea’s KOSPI Composite Index ended Thursday down 3.52%. The technology-heavy index struggled after touching 5,460 last week, its lowest since late July.

Final Take:
Bitcoin ETFs drew more than USD 1 billion this week, although average daily inflows since July remain below levels seen during three earlier rallies. Tesla’s spending figures and a 3.52% drop in South Korea’s KOSPI added pressure to broader markets while Bitcoin traded near USD 83,500.
