India is strengthening NEET security with AI tools, tighter checks, and new exam reforms after paper leak concerns. The Centre shared the measures with the Supreme Court while explaining plans to make NEET safer across India.

The National Testing Agency has added stronger checks for question papers, candidates, transport, and exam centres. The government aims to reduce paper leaks and make the medical entrance exam more reliable.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced a new task force led by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani on July 26. The panel will study technology and structural changes for India’s examination system. Modi said, “Our examination system should be reliable, our examination system should be transparent.”

The NTA has already introduced a 10-stage security system for NEET. Offline AI systems will help with question paper translation and preparation. Human teams will then check the content before final approval.

Each question paper and OMR sheet will receive a unique number linked to each candidate. This system can help officials trace exam materials and investigate suspicious activity.

The NTA will also use six layers of tamper-evident protection for exam papers. Steel trunks with single-use locks will add another security layer during transport.

Blockchain could become part of future examination reforms through the Nilekani-led task force. The technology could help create records that are harder to change or hide. The government has not confirmed full blockchain deployment for the next NEET.

The government has also moved toward tougher punishment for exam fraud. The amended law can bring prison terms of up to 10 years and fines reaching Rs. 1 crore.

These reforms follow earlier NEET paper leak concerns that damaged confidence among students. The new approach combines technology, physical security, stronger laws, and better oversight to protect exam integrity.
