Nearly 75% of crypto investors in India are under 35, while older investors show stronger buying conviction. CoinSwitch reported these trends for Q2 2026, covering activity recorded between April and June on its platform.
The findings show younger Indians driving fresh participation, while investors aged 46 and above are holding crypto more firmly. Uttar Pradesh also emerged as India’s largest crypto market, with 12.9% of total investment during the quarter. Delhi followed with 7.4%, showing crypto adoption is spreading beyond traditional financial centers.
Young Investors Drive New Crypto Participation
Investors aged 18 to 25 represented 54.4% of new users during Q2, making them the fastest-growing group. The 26 to 35 group contributed another 25.4% of new investors, strengthening youth dominance across crypto participation.
However, older investors displayed stronger buying conviction during the same period, creating a notable generational split.
Older Investors Show Stronger Buying Conviction
Investors aged 46 and above recorded a buy-to-sell ratio of 1.14 during Q2. The 18 to 25 group recorded a ratio of 0.65, indicating comparatively stronger selling activity.
Ashish Singhal, Co-founder of CoinSwitch, said, “Investors become more informed and deliberate in how they participate.”
Portfolio choices also changed with age, as 59.2% of investors aged 18 to 25 held one crypto asset. Meanwhile, 9.1% of investors aged 36 to 45 held at least 10 cryptocurrencies.
Uttar Pradesh Leads Crypto Investment
Uttar Pradesh led crypto investment with 12.9%, ahead of Maharashtra at 12.4% and Karnataka at 8.1%. Delhi held 7.4%, placing it behind the three leading markets.
Bitcoin remained the preferred cryptocurrency across nine of India’s ten largest investing states. Andhra Pradesh stood apart, with Dogecoin ranking as its most preferred crypto asset.
The data suggests India’s crypto market is becoming younger, broader, and less concentrated around major metros.
