Gujarat Police has dismantled an alleged interstate network linked to hoax bomb threat emails, with investigators uncovering financial and cryptocurrency trails connected to Bangladesh, according to Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.

The operation, led by the Gujarat Police Cyber Centre of Excellence, spanned three states and resulted in arrests of key accused from Bihar and Jharkhand.

Investigators Recover 5.13 Lakh Email Credentials

One of the investigation’s biggest findings was a database containing more than 5.13 lakh email credentials, according to Gujarat Police.

According to Sanghavi, the recovered material formed part of the evidence uncovered during the cyber investigation. Authorities are examining whether the credentials were used to distribute bomb threat emails or were connected to other suspected cyber activities.

Police have not disclosed how many threat emails were sent, which institutions received them or how many credentials were allegedly used.

Crypto and Financial Trails Lead to Bangladesh

Investigators also identified what officials described as sophisticated financial and cryptocurrency transaction trails with links to Bangladesh.

The disclosure adds a cross-border financial dimension to the case. However, authorities have not publicly specified the value of the transactions, cryptocurrencies involved, exchanges used or identities of people in Bangladesh allegedly connected to the network.

These details could help establish how money moved and whether the transactions were connected to the suspected activity.

    Three-State Operation Leads to Arrests

Key accused were arrested in Bihar and Jharkhand during the coordinated operation. Their identities, individual roles and charges were not immediately disclosed.

Sanghavi said, “A major breakthrough by the Cyber Centre of Excellence, Gujarat Police, has exposed and dismantled an interstate bomb threat email network with Bangladesh links.”

He added that “5.13 lakh+ email credentials” were recovered and “Bangladesh-linked financial & crypto trails” were uncovered.

    Investigation Continues

Authorities are now examining seized digital evidence and financial records to determine the network’s scale and whether additional individuals were involved.

Calling the crackdown “a decisive action against those spreading fear through cybercrime,” Sanghavi said, “Gujarat Police remains one step ahead.”

The investigation could clarify how the recovered credentials, alleged bomb threats and cross-border cryptocurrency transactions were connected.
