Panchkula Police have arrested two more people in a high-profile Rs. 83.22 lakh crypto fraud case. With these arrests, the total number of accused in the case has reached four. The investigation is still going on and police are searching for more people linked to the scam.
The two accused have been identified as Vishnu, also known as Billa, from Fatehabad and Surya from Hisar. Both of them have been sent to judicial custody. Earlier, police had arrested Deepak and Sunil Kumar and during questioning, they shared more information that helped police reach the other accused.
How the Crypto Scam Started
Police has revealed that it all started when the complainant’s son saw a cryptocurrency investment offer on social media. The people behind the scam promised big profits in a short time. They kept talking to him on WhatsApp and claimed they were crypto trading experts.
After gaining his trust, they asked him to invest money through a fake crypto trading website. The website showed fake profits, making it look like the investment was growing. Seeing these fake earnings, the victim believed the platform was real and continued sending more money.
Victim Lost Rs. 83.22 Lakh
The accused asked for payments many times, saying the money was needed for investment, account verification, commission charges, and other fees. The victim transferred money through different bank accounts and UPI IDs. Finally, the family lost Rs. 83.22 lakh in total before realizing the entire investment plan was fake.
According to initial investigation, the money was moved through several fake and rented bank accounts to hide where it finally went. Officers are now checking bank records, online chats, and digital transactions to identify other people involved in the scam.
Police to Continue Investigation
Police believe this case is part of a larger cyber fraud network. The investigation is focused on finding the remaining members and tracing the money collected from the victim.
Officials have asked people to stay careful while investing online. Any investment offer that promises very high returns should be checked properly before sending money. Police also advised people to avoid trusting unknown investment groups on WhatsApp or social media.
