India’s 2025-26 ministerial asset declarations reveal a mix of cows, sheep, crypto, cars, properties, foreign investments and firearms. H D Kumaraswamy reported 34 cows, while Jayant Chaudhary remains the only minister reporting cryptocurrency holdings.
India’s Union ministers have reported a striking mix of assets in their latest 2025-26 declarations. The disclosures cover 30 Cabinet ministers and five independent-charge ministers across India’s Union government.
The filings include family holdings, showing how political wealth spans livestock, crypto, property and financial investments. The PMO publishes these declarations annually to promote transparency around ministers’ assets and liabilities.
The latest review covers ministers, their spouses and dependent children, creating a broader picture of household wealth. The declarations show traditional assets alongside newer investments, offering an unusual look at political finances.
H D Kumaraswamy reported 34 cows and 273 sheep, while Jitan Ram Manjhi listed four cows. Manjhi also reported three calves, adding livestock to an otherwise investment-heavy set of disclosures.
Cryptocurrency stands out as another unusual part of the latest Union ministers’ asset declarations. Jayant Chaudhary remains the only minister in the review to report cryptocurrency holdings.
His wife, Charu Singh, also reported crypto assets, continuing their digital investment disclosures from previous filings. Earlier official filings showed combined crypto holdings of more than Rs. 43 lakh for the couple.
Vehicle disclosures offer another contrast between modest holdings and high-value political wealth. Around 15 ministers reported cars in their own names or immediate households, according to the review.
G Kishan Reddy listed a 1995 Maruti 800 valued at Rs. 1.1 lakh in his declaration. Nirmala Sitharaman reported a Bajaj Chetak, while Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah listed no car.
Property holdings provide a larger window into accumulated family wealth among several Union ministers. Around one-third of reviewed ministerial households have identifiable properties across Delhi-NCR.
Rao Inderjit Singh reported multiple land parcels and properties in Gurugram within his declaration. Lalan Singh and Jual Oram also appear among ministers with identifiable NCR-linked property holdings.
Foreign investments add another layer, with the Scindia family reporting globally diversified financial assets. Jyotiraditya Scindia and his wife declared funds and ETFs connected with several international markets. Their reported investments include names such as BlackRock, iShares, Vanguard and Schroders across major regions.
Firearms remain relatively uncommon within the declarations reviewed across the Union ministerial households. Virendra Kumar, Annpurna Devi, Lalan Singh and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat reported firearm holdings. The overall disclosures therefore show no single pattern for political wealth or household assets.
Many properties and investments predate ministerial appointments or come through family inheritance. The declarations therefore do not establish that ministers accumulated these assets during their tenure.
Under the ministerial Code of Conduct, ministers submit annual declarations by August 31 for public disclosure. The latest filings ultimately show a changing wealth landscape, where cows and crypto share space with crores.
