Bitcoin Rebounds Above USD 83,000 as Oil Prices, Treasury Yields Limit Crypto Market Gains

Bitcoin recovered above USD 83,000 on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, supported by stronger US corporate earnings and improving risk appetite. However, elevated oil prices, rising Treasury yields and uncertainty surrounding artificial intelligence investments continued to restrict cryptocurrency market gains.

Bitcoin Price Recovers but Remains Range-Bound

According to CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin gained 2.08% to trade at USD 83,116.88 on Wednesday. The cryptocurrency has fluctuated between USD 80,000 and USD 87,000 over the past month, reflecting uncertainty surrounding global economic conditions.

Bitcoin briefly approached the USD 80,000 level as higher US Treasury yields reduced investor interest in speculative assets. Despite three consecutive months of gains, Bitcoin remained approximately 1% lower in October, raising concerns about another disappointing performance during the historically bullish ‘Uptober’ period.

Oil Prices and Interest Rates Pressure Crypto

Rising crude oil prices have emerged as another obstacle for cryptocurrency markets. Brent crude remained near five-month highs amid geopolitical tensions involving the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Higher energy prices can intensify inflation concerns, potentially encouraging central banks to maintain restrictive monetary policies.

Meanwhile, rising US Treasury yields increase the relative attractiveness of interest-bearing investments, reducing demand for risk-sensitive assets such as Bitcoin. Uncertainty surrounding the sustainability of AI-related equity valuations also weighed on broader market sentiment.

    Bitcoin ETF Inflows Return

Institutional demand showed improvement after two consecutive weeks of withdrawals. According to SoSoValue, US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted USD 526.6 million on October 19, their strongest daily inflow since September 22. BlackRock’s IBIT led the recovery. On October 20, inflows continued with USD 23.16 million. However, ETF buying has not produced a sustained breakout above Bitcoin’s recent trading range.

    Ethereum, XRP and Solana Advance

Altcoins also recovered on Wednesday. Ethereum increased 1.8% to USD 2,442.67, while XRP gained 3.60%. Solana advanced 2.40%, Cardano climbed 4.05%, and BNB added 2.63%. Dogecoin rose 3.71%, while TRUMP gained 6.56%.

    Market Outlook

Bitcoin’s next move depends on sustained ETF inflows, oil-price stability and interest-rate expectations. A decisive move above USD 87,000 could signal strengthening momentum, while renewed selling below USD 80,000 would suggest further downside risk.
