Crypto wallet provider SafePal disclosed a data breach affecting 39,798 customers on August 16. The SafePal data breach exposed order information through a flaw in its tracking system.
The issue affected orders placed between March 2, 2025, and April 11, 2026. An authorization flaw allowed unauthorized access to another customer’s order details. SafePal said the issue could increase phishing and impersonation risks for affected customers.
The exposed customer data included names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping addresses, and purchase details. SafePal confirmed that seed phrases, private keys, wallet passwords, and other wallet credentials remained safe.
Bank details, payment card numbers, and government IDs also remained protected. SafePal said no evidence showed that the incident affected wallets or customer funds.
SafePal said, “No evidence has been found that the incident itself compromised access to SafePal wallets or funds.”
The company fixed the flaw after discovering the incident and added extra security measures. SafePal also plans to keep customer information in its order system for only 90 days. The company notified affected customers individually through email on August 16.
The breach creates a new risk for SafePal users through targeted phishing attacks. Scammers could use order details to create fake support calls, emails, or shipping messages. SafePal has already removed more than 30 fraudulent websites and phishing links linked to the incident.
SafePal advised affected customers to remain careful with unexpected messages linked to their orders. The company also warned against sharing seed phrases, private keys, or wallet passwords with anyone.
The incident shows how exposed customer data can create risks even when crypto funds remain secure. Strong caution around suspicious links and messages remains important for affected users.
