Uttar Pradesh Police will train more than 4,000 new sub-inspectors in crypto crime investigation soon. The training will take place at the Dr BR Ambedkar Police Academy in Moradabad and other police schools across Uttar Pradesh.
The new course will teach officers how to spot crypto crimes and follow digital transactions. It will cover blockchain, digital wallets, and ways to trace cryptocurrency transactions. Central agency officers will also help train the new recruits during the course.
Rajeev Sabharwal, DG Training HQ, confirmed the new module for the upcoming police course. He said, “A dedicated module will be added to their upcoming course.”
Deputy SPs and inspectors will train the recruits in crypto investigation. These officers have already received special training in cryptocurrency-related cases.
The move comes as more people report fraud linked to digital assets and online investment platforms. Police officials want local officers to understand these cases before specialist agencies take over.
The Enforcement Directorate, Financial Intelligence Unit, and Central Bureau of Investigation handle many major crypto cases. State police officers have had less technical experience in investigating blockchain-based crimes.
The new training will help officers understand how money moves through crypto wallets and transactions. It can also help police teams start investigations faster at the district level.
More than 4,000 sub-inspectors recently completed the recruitment process in Uttar Pradesh. Their upcoming training will now include crypto investigation as part of the basic police course.
The move gives crypto crime a place in regular police training instead of limiting the skill to specialist teams. It also shows the growing need for blockchain knowledge in cybercrime investigations.
