CBI Probe Finds Officials, Bank Staff Role in Fund Diversion Across 8 Departments in Rs 661 Crore Scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation has stepped up action in the Rs. 661 crore scam with fresh searches. Teams carried out CBI raids at six locations across Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Delhi NCR.

Officials searched the homes of senior public servants and offices linked to Vipam Consultancy during the operation. The agency is checking records and financial links connected to the Rs. 661 crore scam.

Focus on Officials and Financial Records

Investigators suspect strong links between government officials and bank staff in this case. Early findings show that officials helped open accounts and move funds without proper checks.

The money allegedly moved through accounts in IDFC First Bank and AU Small Finance Bank. These accounts helped transfer funds before sending them to other accounts for personal use.

Authorities said several government departments faced losses in this Rs. 661 crore scam. Eight departments in Haryana and key bodies in Chandigarh reported financial impact.

    Multiple Departments Report Financial Losses

Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and CREST Chandigarh also came under the impact of fund diversion. The case raises concerns about weak checks in public fund management.

Search teams collected important proof during the CBI raids, including documents and digital devices. Property papers and financial records may help trace the money trail clearly.

Officials also found that Vipam Consultancy received funds linked to the Rs. 661 crore scam. The money later moved from company accounts to the director’s personal account.

The agency has registered cases for criminal conspiracy and misuse of government funds. Investigators continue to track how the fraud spread across departments and banks.

    Evidence Collection and Ongoing Investigation

This case first came under state agencies before the CBI took charge for deeper investigation. The probe now focuses on building strong evidence against all involved parties.

    What This Means For Governance

Large fraud cases like the Rs. 661 crore scam show gaps in financial control systems. Strong checks and better monitoring can help protect public funds in future.

The investigation is still ongoing as officials examine seized records and digital data. More action may follow as the CBI uncovers deeper links in the Rs. 661 crore scam.
