Ripple XRPL v3.2.0 Cuts Memory Use by Up to 40% as fixCleanup3_2_0 Awaits Validator Approval
Ripple has taken another step in improving the XRP Ledger with the launch of XRPL v3.2.0. The update became available more than three weeks ago and brings better performance, stronger security, and lower operating costs. Even so, many node operators have not switched to the new version, showing that large blockchain upgrades often take time to spread across the network.
According to the latest network data, 357 out of 828 Ripple Nodes now run XRPL v3.2.0. This equals about 43% of all nodes on the network. At the same time, 426 nodes, or around 51%, still use the older v3.1.3 version. The remaining nodes operate on different software versions.
XRPL v3.2.0 Gains Validator Support
The numbers may look slow, but the update has already reached an important milestone. Around 61% of XRPL Validators using supported software have installed the new version. More importantly, 31 out of the 35 trusted validators on the Unique Node List have already upgraded. Since the XRP Ledger needs support from at least 80% of these trusted validators, the network now accepts v3.2.0 as the current software version.
The latest Ripple XRPL Upgrade includes several useful changes. Ripple has renamed its core server software from rippled to xrpld. The update also reduces memory usage by nearly 30% to 40%, helping node operators lower costs while improving network performance.
Key Improvements in the Latest Update
Developers also receive better tools, stronger security, and improved network efficiency. These improvements follow the fixes added in version 3.1.3, which focused on permissioned domains, vaults, and other technical updates. The latest release gives the XRP Ledger a stronger base for future growth, especially as more financial companies look at blockchain technology.
The slow upgrade does not mean the network is facing problems. Trusted validators have already approved the new software, allowing the blockchain to continue moving forward. As more Ripple Nodes install the update, the network can fully use its improved security, lower operating costs, and better performance. A higher upgrade rate could also encourage more businesses to build projects on the XRP Ledger.
Another important change is still waiting for approval. The fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment is now under voting by trusted validators. So far, 17 of the 35 validators have supported it. The proposal needs 28 votes before it becomes active.
fixCleanup3_2_0 Amendment Still Under Vote
Once approved, the amendment will add more security fixes for single asset vaults, lending protocols, multi-purpose tokens, permissioned domains, and permissioned decentralized exchanges. These updates will help developers build safer blockchain applications while making the network more reliable.
The Ripple XRPL Upgrade shows that software updates on decentralized networks do not happen overnight. Validator support has already crossed the required level, while many node operators continue their upgrades at their own pace. If more nodes move to XRPL v3.2.0 in the coming weeks, the network will be ready to unlock all the benefits of the latest release.
